About the author

  G. Russell Peterman is a graduate of Thomasville, Missouri High School, Southwest Missouri State College, and an M.A. in American History from Vanderbilt University. Gene Russell Peterman is married, a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. After retiring from teaching after 30 years in the classroom, he turned to writing. Gene Peterman writes as G. Russell Peterman. He collected up his forty years of poems and published i am cabbage, a book of poetry. Also, he has co-authored with his daughter Kriston Dunya four novels: (two historical fictions) My Eyes are Red and Afternoon Moon, and (two science fictions) into the void and Tyro. Also, they published three collections of short stories: Marrying Tree Stories, Crossing Niobrara, and Woman's Creek.

  After her passing he started writing alone. Writing alone he published the novels: Luck's Wild, a civil war story, The Centauri Conspiracy, a story about putting people on other planets, Blue, a story of a young girl mixed up in the Bird's Point land swindle, and the novelette Showdown at Ribbon Rock, a story of a dying man returning home. He collected up his remaining "Western Heart Series" short stories into books four and five: East of Yesterday and Western Heart Stories to compete the five book series. Also, he collected up his odds and ends writings into a volume titled Odd Ends.

  Believing in community service, Gene Peterman is a volunteer. He has been an active volunteer for 42 years. He was elected for 20 years to the Millersville Rural Fire District Board of Directors and served as a volunteer fire fighter and Treasurer and earned Missouri State Certification as a level 3 Fire Instructor. He was appointed Treasurer of Public Water Supply District number 2 and served for twenty years. He was also appointed for two years to the Cape Girardeau County Planning Commission during a failed zoning attempt and was elected its Chairman.
