It was not Reggie’s fault the adults in their life had lied to them. He was struggling just as much as she was, and he had no one to help him. “Fuck!” She yelled and made everyone in the room jump. “Oops, sorry, venting.”
“Don’t apologize, baby.” Devon said and came to her and wrapped his arms around her. She smiled when she felt Sid do the same thing encompassing the three together.
Cami stood and went to her mates and smiled up at them, “I think we can get Reggie.” Quin nodded and Jaden went to the door, leaned out, and asked Mike to bring Reggie to the room. Casey waited impatiently. Once she realized what she had done, she wanted nothing more than to talk to her other half, her best friend, her brother.
The door opened slowly and Casey almost cringed when she saw Reggie come in with red rimmed eyes, and looking hesitantly around him. He had always been the more self-confident of the two, and she felt terrible thinking she had been the one to cause the man to feel like this.
“Reg.” She whispered, Casey could not say anything else because of the tears clogging her throat.
Reggie cried out loudly, ran to her, and hugged her. “I am so sorry.” He cried and Casey grabbed on to him and held on.
“Not your fault. I am sorry it took me so long to pull my head out of my ass.” Casey said.
“Well, I was only going to give a few more hours, and then I was going to pull it out myself.” Reggie said.
Casey laughed and pulled back and looked into her twin’s eyes. For the first time, she was looking at him like her brother. It was amazing to feel the connection between them. “Twins?” Reggie whispered.
“Yeah, I got the entire ass though. How is that fair?” Casey said and kissed him on the cheek.
Reggie laughed, “I am kinda glad I did not have to share the penis size gene.” All the people in the room laughed with them. “Seriously, though, I am sorry that I did not talk to you. I needed time to process, not that that’s an excuse. I should have never turned my back on you, and I will never do that again.” Casey said.
Reggie nodded. “Bitch, you had better not.”
“So, let me introduce my mates.” Casey said and looked over to where her two handsome men were standing. They may have just bonded, but she felt like she knew them her whole life.
“Wait, did you say mates?” Reggie said and looked behind him. “FUCKIN’ A.” Casey laughed and said. “Ha, wait it gets better. You are going to have two also.”
“Huh? Two what?” Reggie said looking at the two beautiful men standing before him.
“Mates, dumb ass. This is Sid and you know Devon.” Casey said and laughed.
“Wait, what? Nice to meet you.” Reggie said always polite before turning back to her. “Did you say two mates?”
“Yes, clearly the Gods felt we needed two mates for support.” Casey said clapped her hands.
“Crap.” Reggie whispered. “I hope mine is as cute as yours.” Sid and Devon laughed and shook Reggie’s hand. They briefly talked, but were soon interrupted by Quin, who was clearing his throat.
“Sorry, but we have a few things we have to discuss. I understand that neither of you want to talk to you parents yet, but we have to get back to Denver where the security is better. We are leaving in the next few hours, so we have to gather your stuff up.” Jaden said. “I have two teams ready to take you to your houses to get your stuff together.” Casey stopped laughing and looked at Reggie. He knew what she was going to say before she even opened her mouth and nodded to her then gripped her hand in support.
“I don’t have anything I want to take with me. It was a bunch of lies, and I am starting my life from this moment on. It can burn for all I care. I can get the stuff I need when we get to Denver.” Casey said firmly looking at her mates.
Sid and Devon looked at each other before turning back to their mate. Sid looked at her with a worried expression on his face and said. “Baby, I know you say this now, but isn’t there anything you want to take? I don’t want to regret this.”
“No.” Casey said firmly and Devon turned to his Alphas and nodded to them.
“Reggie?” Quin said quietly.
“Me neither.” He said quietly.
Quin nodded and went to the door and told Mike they would be ready in the next half an hour to leave for the airport.
“Your parents will be flying in another private jet my father sent, so at least you don’t have to worry about that.” Jo said and smiled at them.
Chapter 6
The ride to the airport was uneventful. They were escorted quickly into the small jet. Casey stopped at the top of the stairs and looked behind her. This was the only place she had ever remembered living; it held so many memories good and bad. They were all lies; she thought and let the tears fall down her face. Reggie stepped up to her, hugged her, pulling her after him into the plane, and settled them on a long couch.
She cried and let her brother comfort her. She felt her mates on one side of her waiting for her to need them. It felt so good to have people who actually wanted to be with her. They were her family now. All of these people were. She turned and saw all of her new friends waiting for her to stop crying.
Jo and Cami came and pushed their way in so they sat on either side of her and Reggie, and they pulled them into a hug, crying along with them. “FUCKIN’ hormones!” Cami cried.
When the emotional storm was finally over, Cami was snuggled between her mates, and Jo was sitting on Tey’s lap being comforted. Casey and Reggie were between her mates. They were both comforting her and her brother, and she did not think her heart could get any fuller.
These two men were the most amazing thing that had ever happened to her. She closed her eyes and thanked the powers that be for sending her them. Devon and Sid may both be big men, but they were also caring and loving men. She had won the lottery with them. Looking out the window as the jet began to move; finally, she was leaving this place behind. There was too much heart break here.
The flight only lasted a few hours so she leaned back and closed her eyes. She was exhausted from everything that had happened and all the emotions she had expended. Soon, she was asleep curled up in Devon’s arms. Reggie had lain down on the couch and so Sid sat on the other side of Devon and pulled both of his mates close.
“How is she doing?” Sid whispered in Devon’s ear.
“Wiped out.” Devon said and kissed her on top of the head.
Sid nodded and then said, “Are you going to tell her you had all of her things boxed up and sent to Denver?”
“When the time comes, I don't want to piss her off until I absolutely have to.” Devon said and turned to him. “What about you? I know you said you and your brothers were headed toward Denver. What about all of your stuff?”
“I can call my father and have him send it. My brothers are heading to Denver on their own, so we will meet up when they get there. I have no problems moving.” Sid said.
“Good, we did not have a chance to talk about it. I guess I am the one who is making out in this deal.” Devon said.
“Yes, and I will make you pay for it later.” Sid teased and leaned in and kissed Devon.
Chuckling, “So much shit has happened; we have not had a chance to talk about how we are going to handle this. I have a three-bedroom apartment in the building. I think it will suit us for now. I have an office already, but one of the rooms can be converted for you and Casey. My parents are in France still. I called them and they are going to visit as soon as we call them, and let them know they can visit. I would assume your parents would like to come too.” Devon said.
“Yeah, my mom and little sister want to come and meet you. They will wait until I call them though. I had a hard time explaining I had two mates. I think my ear drum blew out when my mom screamed. We should probably play it all by ear with Casey. I do not want to overwhelm her yet. She is going to have enough to deal with when her parents want to talk.” Sid said and looked down at their mate who was sleeping. “I never thought I
would find my mate let alone find two of them. I love you both so much already.”
“I feel the same way.” Devon whispered.
“Ditto.” Casey said groggily.
Both men laughed as their mate snuggled down further into Devon’s embrace and went back to sleep. Neither of them wanted to disturb her, so they settled back as well and took a much needed nap.
It felt like Devon had barely closed his eyes when the captain announced they were approaching Denver. He shook both of his mates awake, looked, and made sure everyone was awake.
Obviously, it had been a long few days for all of them since all of his friends were waking up also.
When they finally touched down, they were all discussing what they were going to be doing when they arrived at the Pack headquarters. Apparently, there were things that needed to be done and greater security that needed to be in place.
Devon was the Beta of the Pack. He was responsible for the Enforcers and the security. He pulled Tey over to talk with him about the new members they had apparently been training for Enforcer. Their security was going to increase four times as much as it had been.
It was his job as the Leo on the Council also. He needed to know what was going on. All the Packs needed protecting from what was to come. He had felt over the last few months there was something they were missing. The Rogues were determined to stop them from forming and developing the Council. Of course, they wanted to use their power to take over the humans, but still it seemed like it was really personal the way they were going for each of their mates. He looked at Casey and frowned at the thought that she was going to be a target.
Devon looked out the window and saw the huge SUV’s that were waiting for them. There were six cars. One for the Alphas, one for Tey and Jo, plus Reggie who was going to ride with them.
And one for Sid, Casey and him, they were all accounted for and had a full protection detail in the car with them. The others were for the Enforcers, who were guarding them. It looked like the President was coming into town, but the Alphas were just as important to them. They were the rulers of the Werewolves, and their rules were laws.
Tey and Devon made sure everything was secure before the doors opened. One by one, Enforcers came into the plane to guard each of the members as they were taken to the cars.
Casey felt like giggling a little when she saw the amount of muscle that was in one small area. If the girls could see her now they would be shitting their pants.
Casey finally settled into the back seat of the SUV that awaited them. She was between Sid and Devon. Thank goodness, these SUV’s were large, because she did not think they would have fit in the back seat if they had not been. She actually felt a little dainty next to them. Once again, fighting the urge to giggle, she fastened her seat belt, put her hands on her lap, and waited.
Devon was talking on the phone. He must have felt her anticipation and nerves because he reached over and took one of her hands at the same time that Sid reached over and took her other.
She felt instantly at ease, knowing that they were moving into the future together. Casey saw the lead car pull away, and they were suddenly moving. She watched out the window marveling at the beautiful view that she would get to see every day. The mountains to the west and the vast city to the east, it was the perfect place to live, the best of both worlds. Devon had told them that the Pack headquarters was closer to the mountains. He said they often took weekend trips to the mountains to run and relax.
Casey sat back and wondered when she would get to go shopping. She wanted to replace her wardrobe. She had heard the downtown shopping in Denver was to die for, and could not wait to hit the streets. Devon and Sid told her they would take her as soon as they were settled. Of course, that had been their first argument. She said she had enough money in her account to buy herself clothes, but both of the men argued and told her they would be taking care of the tab. She protested and they quickly began to argue. The only thing she had enjoyed about the fight was the making up afterward. They had almost missed the ride to the airport because they had been in the bedroom. She may have lost that argument, but she was determined to contribute to the family finances.
“A few more blocks and we will be there.” Devon said and smiled down at her.
“Good.” She said and turned to look out the window again over Sid. They were stopped at a stop light, and she frowned when she noticed several people taking more interest in the cars than they should have. A tall, rather good-looking man, raised his arms, and yelled at the same time she heard the crack of some kind of gun being fired.
Devon yelled and Sid threw her to the floor, and the car was in motion. It did not make it very far when she felt the impact. They must have hit something big because the car stopped, and she could hear shouting all around her. It was chaos.
“Casey, Sid, we need to get out and run! We are going to head west, only a few blocks until there will be so many Pack wolves these ass holes will never be able to handle them all!” Devon yelled.
Casey and Sid both nodded hoping that Devon was right, because right now it felt like they were sitting targets at a turkey shoot.
Sid pulled her up by the back of her jacket and hauled her out of the large SUV as Devon gave them cover with a gun that he obviously had stashed. Casey hated leaving him, but Sid refused to stop once they started running. She looked ahead and saw a bunch of men running at them, and she pulled back worried that they were coming after them. Sid must have seen something she did not, because he stopped long enough to swing her up into his arms and run.
They made it past the group and down another block before Sid slowed down. Casey looked around and saw two tall buildings and another one under construction. “Inside.” Casey heard Jaden behind them, and Sid entered the tallest building on the corner.
She looked over Sid’s shoulder and saw Cami and Jo being hustled inside. She waited for a brief moment. No one else came through the door, and she looked around. They were missing Devon, Quin, and Reggie.
Jaden led them into a conference room and made sure all of them were not hurt before turning and saying to Sid. “You shoot anyone who enters this room without giving the password,
‘Denver’.” Then handed him a handgun, and nodded his approval when Sid checked for the safety. He did not want to shoot anyone by accident. Casey looked at the other women who both cringed when Jaden left the room.
“What the fuck just happened?” Casey said and looked at the three people in the room hoping one of them would say ‘surprise’, or something just as silly. She could not process what was going on.
“I think the Rogue’s attacked us.” Cami said quietly and rubbed her stomach absently and Jo growled.
Sid stared at the door refusing to let his gaze leave it for a second. “I hear something.” Jo stood up and pulled Cami and Casey into the corner shielding them. “Chick, you are just as pregnant as I am.” Cami snarled and pulled her friend back so they all stood in a circle kind of shielding each other.
“Denver.” Someone called out and the door opened, and was flooded with tall men, who she assumed were guards. They turned tables over, barricaded the door, and then called out to someone outside of the door. Devon, Quin, and Jaden were pushed inside and then Tey followed. Casey could see blood on all of them and gasped, but it was the man that Tey was holding, that drew her attention the most and she cried out. “Reggie.” Casey yelled and ran to her brother’s side.
His eyes were closed and he had blood all over him. Tey gently laid him on the floor, and she heard the Alphas barking orders. Devon and Sid pulled her back as a small man ran into the room with a doctor’s bag.
Casey could not focus on anything but her pale brother’s face. It looked like he was already dead, but the doctor obviously knew more than she did because he ripped his shirt and began working on him.
A small young woman came into the room with more supplies and knelt next to the doctor.
“Ruby, you need to put pressure here.”
The older man said and showed her where to press.
“RUBY!” the doctor yelled and snapped the girl out of the daze she clearly had been in.
Casey turned and hid her face in Sid’s chest, while Devon petted her back. She felt Cami and Jo come to her side as well, and they all clung to the men who were trying to give Casey comfort.
Tey and the Alphas finally stopped what they were doing and joined the group, and they held a small vigil above the man who was part of the Council.
“Who?” Devon said softly.
“Best guess, they must have been watching. The parents were brought here earlier today; they must have realized we were going to follow soon enough. My brothers Gregg and Darien have taken over the role of Beta’s, as you well know. They are on their way back. They said they had security maxed. Tey will go and find out more.” Quin said, and nodded to the man.
Devon nodded. Since he had been named the Beta of the Council Pack, he had turned over his role as Beta of the Denver Pack to Quin's brothers just this morning. It had been hard to do, but he wanted to find all the Council members that were currently living out there without any protection at all. He cringed to think what would have happened if they had attacked Reggie and Casey in South Carolina, without the benefit of the Enforcers protection. They would have been dead already. The thought sent chills running through Devon’s body.
Casey stood quietly crying, while the doctor worked on Reggie. They saw that he had been shot through the shoulder and the leg, but Casey could not tell if there was a bullet still in her brother because there was so much blood. The doctor worked quickly stopping the blood and patching him up. It probably took an hour before the doctor stopped and looked up at them and smiled gently.
