  ‘I wonder how they got on board,’ he said, smiling to himself.

  The castle was not far from the coast, and the captain got as close as he could before putting his passengers into a boat with two strong sailors.

  Timoken watched from above, as his sister and his friends climbed out on to the beach. When they began to make their way inland, he followed their progress for a while, and then he flew ahead. Soon he saw the hill, rising out of the autumn trees. On top of the hill stood a castle. A golden castle in a golden sea.

  ‘There it is, Gabar!’ he cried.

  ‘There is what, Family?’

  ‘Home,’ said Timoken.
