Sin saw the flicker of fear he expected, but it was swiftly replaced with outrage. Her delicate jaw firmed and her chin rose as she said in a lofty tone, “That is a ridiculous idea.”
“We shall see how ridiculous it is. You are here for two weeks, and I shall make it my first priority to seduce you.”
“It was foolish of you to warn me,” she said sweetly. “I shall not succumb to your blandishments.”
“Oh?” He trailed his fingers down the silk of her cheek. “Are you sure?”
She stiffened, her eyes sliding closed. He could see the wild beating of her heart in the hollow of her throat, and the sight sent his own blood thrumming through his veins.
He leaned close to whisper in her shell-pink ear, “You see how it is between us? How a simple touch sets your skin afire? How will you possibly resist that?”
She slowly opened her eyes, her gaze steadier than he’d expected. “I shall be on my guard now. Your plan won’t work.”
“Won’t it, my bonny Rose?” He captured one of her silken curls and slowly ran it through his fingers, noting how her gaze darkened and her breath quickened when the backs of his fingers brushed her warm skin.
He chuckled softly. “I don’t think you can resist me, my sweet. That kiss at the fountain showed me that you possess a passionate nature that is barely in control. It won’t take much to set that ablaze.” He released her curl and traced the line of her throat to her ear. “And this time, run though you might, you will not escape.”
