The group left with the army men to get washed and changed.

Tom returned with Alice an hour later he arrived at house and made his way to the front door, “Are you ok?” asked Alice

  “I am.” He replied

He knocked on the door and Jenny opened up the door, “Tom.” She said

“I’ve come for my son.” He said and smiled

  “Come on in.” she said

Tom and Alice walked into the house and Jack was sitting in the front room when he noticed his dad he ran to him and the two hugged, “I’ve missed you so much son.”

  “I missed you too dad.”

Tom stood up and faced Jenny, “Thank you so much.” He said

“I should be the one thanking you.” She replied

She smiled and continued, “You saved my daughter’s life and mine.”

Tom smiled and looked down at Jack, “I hope you behaved for Jenny.”

“I did.” Replied Jack rolling his eyes

“Who is this?” he then asked looking at Alice

“This is Alice she helped me get to you.”

  “Hi.” Said Jack

  Alice laughed, “Hi.”

“You can stay here tonight if you like.” Said Jenny

  “Thank you.” Replied Tom

That night Tom slept in the same bed as Jack and Alice took the couch the two slept right through the night as it was the first time in months where they didn’t have to worry about been attacked by the dead and the living.

Morning arrived and the sky was clear the sun shorn down around the camp, Tom and Alice where just about to leave the house when Jack stepped outside he returned a second later,

  “Dad it stinks outside.”

Tom looks to Alice, “Oh, no!” he whispers

Tom and Alice run outside, “Jack wait with Alice for a moment.”

“Where are you going?” asked Jack

“I just need to go to the guard tower.”

Tom made his way to the tower and came across Ian and Josh who had had the same idea as Tom, “There here.” Said Josh

Tom, Ian and Josh climbed to the guard tower and the guard was fast asleep,

“Hey, wake the fuck up.” Said Ian nudging the guard

  “What’s going on?” he asked

  “Take a look.” Replied Tom

The guard stood up and looked out in to the horizon, it was filled with a herd of zombies there was thousands of them, a mega herd.

  “Jesus Christ.” Said Josh

The guard picked up his radio, “Take a look out the front we have trouble coming our way.”

A reply on the radio came back a moment later, “Holy fucking shit.”

“What do we do?” asked the guard

“We get as many people out of here as possible.” Replied Tom

Tom, Ian and Josh left the tower and ran back to Alice and Jack,

“We need to leave as soon as possible.” Said Tom

  “What’s going on dad?”

“We just have to go somewhere else son.”

Jack looked up, “Where?” He asked

  “I don’t know.”

The news soon spread around the compound that a herd was on its way and it didn’t take them long the first two barriers had already been broken through. The safe zone was now in a chaos people where running around trying to hide in the buildings, the army men were waiting by the helicopters Tom grabs Jack and puts him over his shoulder, he then grabs Alice’s hand now along, Ian, Josh, Jackie and now Jenny and her daughter they run and make it to two helicopters, Tom and Ian quickly shoot the two army men, Jenny looked at them,

  “What are you doing?”

“It’s our only way Jenny they wouldn’t have let us on anyway.”

“Where we going Tom?” asked Ian

“Anywhere you want buddy.” He replied

“Just follow me we’ll find somewhere.” Replied Ian

Tom shook Ian’s hand, “Its turn to help you now.” He said

Ian smiled and opened up the helicopter door, Jackie, Josh and a few other survivors jumped into the first helicopter and Tom, Jack, Alice Jenny and her daughter, Amy took the second helicopter as they flew up and away from the safe zone, other helicopters were taking off and flying away. Alice watched as the herd broke through the final barrier she sighed as the herd quickly over run the compound she turned to Tom.

“I love you.” She said and smiled
