pajai (puh-JUH-EYE) Temple priest.
pardjinn (PAR-jin) Someone who is half jinn, half human; seen as an abomination by the jinn.
Qaf (COFF) Mountain range in Arjinna.
Qalif (kah-LEEF) Hope.
raiga (RAY-guh) Wolf.
rohifsa (roe-HEEF-sah) Soul mate; translates as “song of my heart.”
sadr (SAHD-r) Arjinnan prayers in the jinn holy book, comparable to the Christian psalms.
Sadranishta (SAHD-rahn-EESH-tah) Jinn holy book.
sahai (suh-H-EYE) Awake; word from the old tongue used to awaken and deploy Calar’s shadow monsters.
salfit (SAL-feet) A derogatory term used by the lower castes when referring to Shaitan and Ghan Aisouri jinn, who mostly reside in the mountains. Literal translation: “goat fucker.”
savri (SAH-vree) The favorite drink of the jinn, a spicy wine with hints of cardamom.
sawala (sah-WALL-ah) Traditional Arjinnan clothing consisting of pants and a long tunic. Worn by both males and females.
sawal-hafim (sah-WALL hah-FEEM) Formal jinn attire.
Sha’a Rho (SHAH-ah-ROE) Ghan Aisouri martial art, with similarities to yoga, tai chi, and kung fu.
shirza (SHER-zuh) Ifrit general.
skag (SKAG) Insult used for any caste, male or female. Loosely translates as “motherfucker.”
sula (SOO-luh) Empress.
sulahim (soo-luh-HEEM) Emperor.
tavrai (tuh-VR-EYE) A member of the jinn resistance, similar to “comrade.”
vashtu (VAH-shtoo) Ajinnan predator birds.
voiqhif (vwah-KEEF) A psychic power similar to remote viewing. Very rare among the jinn.
widr (wi-DEER) An Arjinnan tree, similar to a weeping willow. Has silver leaves.
yaghin (yah-GEEN) Magical necklace used as protection against and storage of Calar’s shadow monsters.
zhifir (zh-if-EER): An Arjinnan fiddle.
EXPRESSIONS IN KADA
Batai ghez sonouq. (buh-TAI GEZ soh-NOOK) My family is yours.
Batai vita sonouq. (buh-TAI VEE-ta soh-NOOK) My home is yours. Used when visitors come to one’s home.
Ghar lahim. (GHAR la-HEEM) Nice to meet you.
Ghasai œŋæ. (guh-SEYE OON-ay) Old tongue: We want your breath.
Ghasai nëjër. (guh-SEYE nay-JER) Old tongue: We want your blood.
Ghasai zæë. (guh-SEYE z-eye-EE) Old tongue: We want your bones.
Hala dkar. (HAH-la duh-CAR) All honor to the gods.
Hala shaktai mundeer. Ashanai sokha vidim. Ishna capoula orgai. Hala shaktai mundeer. (HA-lah shock-TAI moon-DEER ASH-uh-nai SO-kah vee-DEEM EESH-nah KA-poo-lah OR-guy HA-lah shock-TAI moon-DEER) Prayer for the dead: Gods receive our souls. Fill them with grace and light. Grant entrance to your eternal temples. Gods receive our souls.
Hif la’azi vi. (HIF la-AH-zee vee) My heart breaks for you. Used as a condolence.
Jahal’alund. (JUH-hahl-uh-loond) Gods be with you. Typical jinn greeting.
Kajastriya Arjinna. (kuh-JAH-stree-yuh ar-JINN-uh) Light to Arjinna.
Kajastriya Sula. (kuh-JAH-stree-yuh SOO-luh) Light to the Empress.
Kajastriya Sulahim. (kuh-JAH-stree-yuh soo-luh-HEEM) Light to the Emperor.
Kajastriya vidim. (kuh-JAH-stree-yuh vih-DEEM) Light to the revolution. Expression used among jinn revolutionaries, as a toast or battle call.
Ma’aj yaqifla. (mah-AHJ yah-KEEF-lah) I wash my hands of it.
Mahan laudik. (muh-HAH-n lah-DEEK) Many favors.
Mora sahai mundeer. Mordam jal’la. (MOR-uh suh-HEYE moon-DEER MOR-dum jah-LAH) Old tongue prayer for the dead: Mora raise my soul. Death, take me.
Salaa’khim. (suh-LAH-keem) Victory or death. Used among the Ghan Aisouri before battle.
Shundai. (shoon-DIE) Thank you.
Vi fazla ra’ahim. (VEE FHAZ-la RAH-ah-HEEM) You are a sword, nothing more. What tavrai say before a battle.
