"Did David call you?" Gavin asked Melanie. He'd walked me to the door, as usual.

Melanie smiled, a sweet, indulgent smile. "Yes, he did. I know Sara has class Friday night, so tomorrow we'll have a little going away party for her. She doesn't have much to pack. We should be able to get everything done by Friday morning."

"I have a box in storage," I said.

"We can get it tomorrow," Melanie said.

"Great." Gavin clapped his hands together in excitement. "I don't work Friday afternoons until four. Would it be all right if I stopped by about two on Friday to collect her things?"

"That will work out fine. I'll have the paperwork ready for when you get here," Melanie said.

I could tell Melanie was happy for me, yet sad I was leaving. I felt the same way. Maybe we could watch a movie together Thursday night, one last time.
