I walked carefully through the dark damp cave. In the distance I could see a faint light, I headed towards it, hopeful I would find the exit. Instead, I found Akasha. Light filled the cave as I got closer the bright turquoise sky. Once I could see where I was going I walked faster. I almost got to the opening when I slammed into a glass wall.
"No," I gasped, running my hands over the glass, desperate to find an opening. I couldn’t find anything. The glass went from one side to another. In the distance I could see Shamash and Aya in the rich green meadow. Next to them sat Kayin, Taliesin, Gavin and Anali, they were laughing and having fun.
Banging on the glass I yelled for them, I didn't want to be all alone in this creepy dark cave. "I'm over here, help! I can't reach you!"
No one heard me. No one moved, or came to my rescue.
"Help!" I screamed, banging on the glass wall, my hands aching.
"Sapphire, Sapphire, wake up."
Jerking awake, I scooted away from the hand shaking my shoulder.
"It's okay, you're okay," Gavin said.
"I'm sorry. I..." My mind raced. I couldn't think straight. I knew it had been a dream, but I still felt scared.
Gavin sat on the edge of the bed. He wore a tee shirt and soft pajama bottoms. I hadn't heard him come home. "What happened?"
"I couldn't reach you. All of you were far away, and there was this wall of glass, and I couldn't reach you," I said, twisting the sheet around my fingers.
"Here, have some water," Anali said.
Taking a drink I began to settle a little bit, my mind and heart both calming down.
"Why couldn't you get to us?" Gavin asked. I could hear the worry in his voice.
Blushing, I looked down at the blanket. "It doesn't matter; it was a stupid dream."
"If you want to talk about it, you can," Anali said.
"I know, but now that I'm awake it seems silly."
"If you're sure," Gavin replied. He didn't sound convinced.
"I'm sure, thank you, and I'm sorry I woke you." I set my glass down and scooted under the covers.
Gavin reached out and smoothed down my hair. "We are both here for you, if you need anything."
"I know." It was nice to hear even if I didn't know what to do with them being "here for me."
