Page 19 of Lost Love

“I can’t believe we were in that store for two hours,” I groaned then sighed.

Her hand moved across my back, causing my body to come to life, and my dick to do a little twitch in my pants. With a blushing expression, she uttered, “I promise I’ll make it up to you later.”

Turning to her, I grinned. “Want to shop some more?”

She laughed and lifted on her tiptoes to kiss me. After a quick peek, she asked, “Now what?”

“Now we head to the next location.”

Paxton placed her hands on her hips and frowned. She looked so damn cute I had to fight the urge to take her into my arms and dry hump her.

“Trust me,” I replied, placing a kiss on her lips.

“Always,” she replied, making my heart soar.

After helping her into the truck, I walked around the front, slowing so I could send off a text.

  Me: How’s it going?

Mom: All done! I have the basket packed and put it in your refrigerator. Trevor set everything else up with the help of Mitchell and Cord, but I’m afraid we can’t pull Cord away from it.

  I laughed.

Me: Tell him I’ll kick his ass if he’s not out of there by later this evening.

Mom: Watch your mouth, Steed Jonathan Parker

When I glanced up, Paxton was staring at me through the driver’s side window with a sexy grin.

I jumped into the truck and flashed her a quick grin. I loved how she reacted not only to my touch, but when I smiled at her.

“Who were you texting?” Paxton asked.

  “Mom.”

Her brow lifted. “Your mom? Is she in on something?”

  I nodded. “Yep.”

Dropping back in her seat, she chuckled. “So let me ask you something.”

  “Go for it, pumpkin.”

“Did you arrange for the auntie day with Amelia and Chloe?”

Peeking at her, I winked. Her teeth sunk into her bottom lip while she stared.

“Keep looking at me like that, Paxton, and I’m going to pull over and drag you over here and sink you down onto me.”

“That doesn’t sound like a bad idea.”

Lust raced through my body and went straight to my dick. Damn, this girl makes me horny as hell. I can’t get enough of her.

“I’ll give you one hint,” I said as I pulled out onto the main road.

She scooted in her seat, and I could feel her eyes on me. “Okay! I’m ready for it.”

  “We’re going to be eating.”

When I glanced over to her, her finger was tapping on her lips like she was in deep thought. “An early dinner?”

  “Maybe.”

“Well, it was a half day at school today. You knew I would eat lunch early, so I’m going to guess that your mom prepared dinner for us, or she made us reservations somewhere.” She shook her head. “No, no. I’m not dressed nice enough to go out to eat.”

I laughed. “Why don’t you sit back and relax. You’ll find out soon enough.”

She huffed. “The only way I can truly relax is if your hands are on my body.”

My head snapped over to her. Jesus. She was looking at me with the sexiest grin. “Don’t tempt me to pull over, Paxton.”

Her hand covered her heart, and she gasped. “Me! Tempt you? I wouldn’t think of it.”

It didn’t take long to figure out we were heading back to the ranch.

“So…we’re going back to your place? What exactly were you planning on eating?”

He slammed on the brakes and threw the truck into park on the side of the street. Throwing the door open, I watched Steed get out of his truck and round the front.

Oh, shit. What did I do?

I unbuckled, knowing what that look in his eyes meant. Steed opened the door, took my hand and pulled me out of the truck.

“W-what are you doing?” I asked, my heart pounding, and my stomach pulling with the hope that he was going to take me right here.

“I’m going to fuck you because you’re driving me crazy with the little comments you keep making.”

I laughed nervously. “What if someone drives up?”

“They won’t,” he said as he unbuckled his jeans.

With shaking fingers, I did the same, kicking one of my boots off in the process so I could get my jeans down one leg. I knew how this looked. Pulling over, still dressed and dying to have him inside of me. But Steed didn’t seem to be bothered so neither was I. This man did things to me. Made me crazy with desire and besides, I’d waited ten years to have him again.

Steed pushed his pants down, allowing his ample dick to spring out, and causing me to run my tongue over my lips. Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out his wallet and fished out a condom.

My jeans were off one leg and I was practically panting with need as I watched Steed roll the condom on.

  “Are you horny, Paxton?”

I nodded. “I have been since I saw you standing in the doorway of my classroom.”

Two of his fingers slipped inside me, causing me to inhale sharply.

“You’re always so ready for me, baby.”

My hands went to his shoulders. “Yes. So ready.”

Where did this version of me come from? The need to have Steed inside was so strong it almost scared me. I knew he wouldn’t hurt me again. Still, it was a reminder of how much I loved this man and needed him in my world.

He grabbed my hips and lifted me like I weighed nothing. When I slowly sank down onto him, Steed let out a long low hissed, “Fuck yes.”

My head dropped back as I adjusted to him stretching me. He was so big, and I could feel the aftermath of our love making in the ache between my legs for days after. And knowing it was caused by the man I loved made it that much better.

“I’ve been dying to be inside of you, Pax. I hate not having you in my bed every night.”

Slowly, he started to move. I used my hands on his shoulders to help me meet his thrusts.

“Yes,” I panted. It was hard to think, let alone speak. When Steed made love to me, I was lost to him heart and soul. Nothing else in this world mattered. It was simply me and him.

His kissed me and that triggered both of us. I couldn’t get him deep enough. He couldn’t get close enough. He started to move faster. Harder. Pulling out and pushing in so deep I fought to keep my moans in. After all, sound carries in the country.

“Son-of-a-bitch. I need to get deeper, baby,” he whispered on my lips.

My chest was heaving as his mouth moved along my neck. I hated that we had layers of clothes separating us, yet at the same time it was hot as hell the way he took me against his truck. At three in the afternoon.

  Yes. Hot. As. Hell.

“Paxton, baby, I need you to come. I can’t hold off…any longer.”

I didn’t want him to stop. Steed inside of me was my favorite thing ever. Whether he was making slow sweet love to me, or fucking me.

  It all felt so good.

He grabbed my ass and pounded into me harder. Deeper. And I fell. So fast and so hard I saw stars across my eyelids.

“I’m coming!” I cried out, not caring if my words traveled on the wind. Steed pushed in and let out the sexiest moan I’d ever heard. Maybe it was a grunt. I couldn’t tell and I didn’t care. It was laced with pleasure and lust. He dropped his mouth onto mine and kissed me as we both came.

When he finally stopped moving, we stood there for a few moments. Steed’s forehead rested against mine, our breath labored.

“Why is every time with you so damn amazing?”

I chuckled. “I could ask you the same thing.”

His blue eyes met mine. “You’re amazing.”

My heart melted. “You’ve already told me that.”

“And I’ll tell you every day at least once a day for the rest of our lives. I love you so much.”

  “I love you too.”

When he finally pulled out of me, I whimpered. Then I realized he had just taken me up against h
is truck in the middle of a pasture where anyone could have driven up.

My face heated. I quickly got my jeans on as Steed took care of the condom.

When he walked back, he grinned from ear to ear. “You’re blushing, Pax.”

Covering my cheeks with my hands, I laughed. “We just had sex out in the open.”

His hands landed on my hips, dragging me closer. Pressing his lips to mine, he whispered, “I can’t control myself around you. Never could and pretty damn sure that will never change.”

I beamed as I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. A honking horn had us both drawing back, horror etched on our faces. Steed leaned back to look around his truck to see who was coming.

“Holy. Shit. That would have been awkward.”

“What? Who is it?” I asked in a panicked voice.

Glancing at me, Steed laughed. “My dad.”

  “Your…dad?” I gasped with a strained voice.

“Yep!” He grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the approaching truck. I scanned both of us quickly to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be.

The Ford F-350 truck stopped right behind Steed’s truck. Tripp was sitting in the passenger seat with a shit eating grin on his face.

They both got out and made their way over to us. “What’s wrong? Something the matter with the truck?” John asked while reaching his hand out for Steed’s.

“No, sir,” Steed replied with a grin. “We were just stopped here. I had to take a piss.”

Tripp looked at Steed and then me, but didn’t utter a single word. I’m sure it was written all over my face.

I just had sex! Hot sex. Steamy hot sex.

John spoke with Steed about the financial books for the ranch while my thoughts wandered to a few minutes ago.

My eyes drifted to Tripp who was still standing there with that damn smile on his face. He totally knew what we had been up to. Thank goodness they hadn’t driven up sooner.

“I told Rob you were itching to get up and fly next week. He said everything is up to date on the plane and to let him know which day you wanted the plane ready,” John said.

I turned to them. “Fly?” I asked, confused.

Steed wove his fingers with mine. “Yeah, I have my pilot’s license.”

Steed flies planes? I knew his father had a pilot’s license and he kept a pilot on his payroll, Rob Donovon.

But Steed is a pilot? I wasn’t sure why that surprised me. He had mentioned wanting to fly back in high school.

He said it like it was no big deal. His father was giving him instructions to call Rob to let him know when he wanted to go up.

“Check out the back pasture while you’re up there, will you?”

  “Yeah, sure.”

“Did you know he flew planes?” I asked Tripp.

  He chuckled and nodded.

“Paxton, sweetheart, how are things at the school?” John asked, pulling my attention away from Tripp.

I lifted my hand and gave a thumbs-up. My nerves still rattled at how close he had come to catching us. “They’re going good!”

“Chloe informed us last night that she wanted to be a teacher, like you.”

I grinned like a silly fool. “She tells me that all the time. I adore her.”

John gave me a loving smile. “She adores you, just like the rest of us.” He glanced to Steed and winked. “All right, we were just coming over to tell Steed about the plane and that I need those numbers from last quarter when you get a chance. Y’all have a good day.”

He leaned in and gave me a quick hug and kiss on the cheek. When he stepped back, he looked between us. “Behave now, you hear?”

My face heated. Tripp shook Steed’s hand while laughing. “Yeah, y’all behave.” He leaned in closer so John couldn’t hear, even though he had already started back for the truck and probably wouldn’t be able to anyway. “And you both have that ‘just fucked’ look on your faces. I’m guessing we nearly drove up on party time.”

“Fuck you, Tripp,” Steed quipped while giving him a playful push on his chest.

Walking backwards, Tripp threw up his hands in a defensive way. “Hey, I’m all for living in the moment!” He laughed hard and loud before slipping back into the truck.

When they turned around and headed back, I dropped my hands to my knees and dragged in a deep breath.

“That was close. Too close. Thank goodness your dad didn’t drive up sooner.”

Steed chuckled as he tugged me toward the passenger side of the truck. I opened the door and jumped in.

“He totally knew what we were doing.”

My heart dropped, and my stomach twisted. “You think?”

“Hell yes. He isn’t stupid. Besides, Tripp was right. You do have that ‘just fucked’ look on your face.”

I buried my face in my hands and groaned. “Great. Just great. I’m never going to be able to look him in the face again!”

Paxton stared out the window as I headed to my place. Every now and then she let out a sigh.

“Pax, stop worrying. I’m sure my parents know we’re sleeping together. And the last time I checked, we were both twenty-eight years old.”

Her head dropped back against the seat. “Ugh. I know, I know. I don’t want your parents to think I’m a whore.”

I parked, then turned off the truck and faced her. “Why in fuck’s sake would they think that?”

She gave me a look that said I should know the answer to that question. “Steed, we had sex out in the open. For the whole world to see.”

With a quick wink, I replied, “And it was hot as hell, admit it.”

Her lower lip pulled in between her teeth. “I will admit it was hot. Very hot.”

I flashed her a dimpled smile, and she practically melted in the seat. Damn, I loved this woman. “Come on, we’re running behind schedule.”

Paxton chuckled. “I didn’t realize we were on a schedule. Was our little stop back there part of today’s plan?”

“No. Our little love fest put us a bit behind, but I think we can make up the time.”

She grinned and hopped out of the truck, not waiting for me to come around and get her door. We met in front of the truck, and I reached for her hand, guiding her into the house.

“So, you’re a pilot?” she asked after we stepped through the front door.

“Yeah. I thought I told you. I took lessons in Oregon. Started out as a way to get my mind off…” My voice trailed off, and I stopped walking.

“Me?” she asked with sadness laced in her voice.

My heart wrenched, and I pulled her to me. “Yes, if I’m being honest. I’m sorry I was gone for so long.”

A weak smile moved across her face. “I think we have established that. It’s just that I hate…”

Lifting my hand, I brushed her hair back. “You hate what?”

Her eyes drifted down. I placed my finger on her chin and lifted them back to mine. “Pax, please tell me.”

“I hate that we missed so much time together. That so many years were filled with sadness and anger.” She shrugged. “The last few months have been so blissfully happy for me, I can’t help but wonder what life would have been like had I not gotten—”

My finger moved to her lips. “Don’t say that. This moment, right now with you, it’s because of what happened ten years ago. We might have taken the long way, but we made it. We’re together and nothing or no one will ever change that.”

Her arms wrapped around my neck. “You’re right!”

The love I felt for Paxton consumed my heart and soul, yet I fell in love with her a little more each day.

Taking her hand in mine, I pulled her towards the kitchen. “Come on. We’re late.”

Paxton grinned and let me guide her. We walked into the kitchen, and I smiled when I pulled the large basket out of the refrigerator.

“What’s this?” she asked while walking over to me.

“Dinner,” I responded. Her eyes lit up as
they darted from the basket to me. I held my breath, waiting for her reaction.

“You had a picnic basket made up for dinner? Are we going on a picnic?”

I loved the excitement in her voice. One of Paxton’s favorite things to do when we dated was to go on picnics. I’d talk Waylynn into packing us a lunch, and I’d surprise Paxton with different locations. I was almost positive one of those picnics was when we conceived our child.

“We are,” I replied with a wink.

Paxton’s face lit up like Christmas morning. I swore I could get drunk with happiness simply by watching her smile.

“Did Waylynn come in to make us dinner?” she asked with a chuckle.

“Not this time. Mom did it all. She was over the moon when I told her my plans.”

She lifted a brow. “Dang, had I known your mom was in on this little secret date I would have pumped her for information.”

Taking the large basket, I huffed. “All you would have had to do is bat those pretty eyes at her, and she would have caved. I think my mother is as happy as we are that we’re together.”

I took her hand in mine, and we headed back out to my truck.

“My mother is too. She’s started asking questions again about why we broke up.”

A slow heavy feeling settled into my chest. “Do you think you’ll ever tell your parents?”

Paxton was silent for a few seconds before she answered me. “I think I will, when the time feels right. It hasn’t yet.”

Stopping at the passenger door, I faced her. “You don’t have to tell them if you don’t want.”

Chewing on her lip, she nodded. “I feel guilty keeping it from them, but over the years it’s been hard enough to think about, let alone tell them, and the longer I wait, the harder it is.”

I placed my hand on the side of her face. “Pax,” I breathed before lightly kissing her lips.

She grabbed my T-shirt as if she needed to steady herself. “My broken heart is nearly healed, Steed. But I think there is always going to be a void there. An ache that won’t really ever go away because of our loss.”

My eyes closed as my own ache seemed to throb a tad bit harder. Gazing into her eyes, I nodded. “I know. I feel the same way.”

For a few moments we were lost in each other’s eyes before Paxton smiled. “Let’s go have a picnic. I’m starving.”
