  (Author’s Note: ‘Passing the Circle’, or ‘Dancing the Circle Rum’, as some call it, a hearty farewell celebration practiced when good companions part for distant places, had its humble beginnings on that stormy afternoon so long ago. Some say it was because it was the last happy departing of friends before darkness fell upon the universe. Others just say it was remembered because people like to remember good things. I personally believe it is because there is a child inside all of us that seeks reasons for parties and one for departing companions is as good as any.)
