A Lost Soul till I die with my wife beside me, my son in front of me and my brothers forever having my back.

  Slade

The day is coming to a close and it has reminded me why I am glad I didn’t walk away from my brothers.

As far as parties go in our club, this has to be the first one where a fight hasn’t broke out. After Zach crashed out in his stroller after a day of running around and keeping Kristen on her toes, I finally have her in my arms on the dance floor. I don’t know how long I will last on my leg but I have to give my girl at least one dance.

“When we get married, do you want all this?” she asks, looking around at everyone.

“Hell no, you, me and Zach with a few of my brothers are enough for me.”

“Thank God for that,” she breathes into a laugh.

Swaying to the music using my good leg to take most of the weight off my wounded leg isn’t so bad.

“I’m so happy you’re here with me,” I murmur.

“I’m not going anywhere,” she promises me and adds, “I think Alannah may be pregnant, don’t quote me or anything but did you see the way Cas kept rubbing her stomach and when he went to throw her over his shoulder, he thought twice and lifted her into his arms?”

“You’re very perceptive today,” I smile.

“A woman always notices little things like that.”

“Really? No I didn’t notice it. If she is I’m happy for them.”

Tilting my head to the side, I really look at Kristen. I could totally see her pregnant with my kid growing inside her, the thought makes me smile.

  “Oh no,” She warns.

  “What?”

“I know what you’re thinking and it isn’t happening. We’re not rushing into babies. I want you to enjoy me a lot longer before I get fat and vomit every day.”

I laugh at her and pull her closer to my chest.

  “We’ll see darlin’.”

It doesn’t matter that Cas had not long left with his bride, everyone was in full party mode and it doesn’t look like the party will be ending soon.

Looking around I see Sparky sitting with JJ sleeping on his chest and making Bonnie laugh. Pope is talking to Linc from the Devils Bastards. Oak is…well, he is Oak. He’s well on his way to passing out blind drunk with a barely dressed party girl on his lap.

How I ever thought I could walk away from them is ridiculous, there is nowhere else I’d rather be.

They are my brothers, my family…my life.

  Oak

Six months on and I still can’t get the image of Kitty dead in my arms out of my head. I despise her for what she tried to do to us but she was a part of my life for such a long time. I’m having trouble letting her death go. She should never have been allowed to sink that far into grief. I should have been there for her after what happened to Michael.

“You’re thinking about her again aren’t you?” Pope asks, slumping onto the stool beside me.

He out of everyone understands the years and the friendships we’ve lost.

“Do you remember what she said about Rayna? I don’t think she was bullshittin’. I haven’t said anythin’ but I think there was more to her death then we knew,” I finally admit.

Slade searched for days after Cas and Alannah got married and found nothing on Rayna’s death.

  “So do I brother.”

“I guess we’ll never know now,” I sigh, draining the rest of my beer.

“Alannah has come to terms with not knowing, maybe it’s time we did the same?”

“I suppose you’re right, no one said anything back then but we all knew Michael had a thing for Rayna, I just don’t understand why he used Lana like that.”

I really am trying to let it go but it keeps gnawing at me like dead fucking weight.

“A lot of shit happened back then and we all have our secrets, maybe some secrets are best buried in the past,” he says, cocking his eyebrow.

“Like I said, I guess we’ll never know,” I sigh.

“Look around us old man, look at everything we have. This is what Mark wanted in the beginning, a brotherhood. We have more family and loyalty bound together in this club than most families have in the outside world.”

I scanned round the bar and saw my brothers at peace, enjoying themselves.

Slade and Sparky are missing from the scene, they are most likely at home with their families or at Kristen’s new shop she recently opened. Apparently Willows Peak was in need of a pawn shop. Slade mentioned her father owned one back home and she ran it for him so she knows what she’s doing, so far it seems to be a hit.

Each and every one of the men here came from shit. Lost souls drifting through life and busting their asses from whatever was thrown at them. Here they have found a purpose and we don’t claim to be anything but who we truly are. I will never meet a man who’s afraid to show his true nature because he has nothing to hide behind.

Society judges us because we aren’t clean cut, suit wearing office workers, but what’s so different about us? The suits embezzle money, snort coke in the swanky uptown bars and fuck their assistants behind their trophy wives backs. We don’t hide who we are, what you see is what you get. I don’t know the answers of the past but I know my future. I always have been and always will be true to myself and true to my club.
