CHAPTER 11
At night Kate invited Paul to her home over dinner. She was making meat balls and spaghetti and chocolate strawberry cake, because Paul likes it.
“Would you stop calling me Alice I will tell you what happen... But for now let me concentrate on my cooking” Kate said as Alice call her 5 times to ask how she’s feeling. She did not want this but she promised herself to move on. She was wearing angry bird t-shirt and blue trouser. She makes one side braid and her hair strand fall on her forehead.
Kate switches her cell phone off because of Alice. The bell ring on her door, she looks herself in a mirror then takes deep breath and open the door.
“Hi...” Paul said as she open the door.
“Hey” Kate replied, folding her arms.
“You are looking beautiful… as always” Paul said and gives her a box.
“Thanks... And what's this?” Kate asked. She closes the door they were in the dining room.
“You’re favorite chocolates without peanut...I know you are allergic to peanuts”
“Well I’m not allergic... I just don’t like them...” Kate stop as she notice Paul is looking at her.
“You have a nice house” Paul said
“Yeah ...Maria like decorating the house” Kate said not taking interest in conversation.
They were eating, and both were quite. Kate was looking down in her dinner, she wants to end this silence but she doesn’t know what to talk about.
“So you all ready for M.I.T” Kate asked.
Paul stops and said “I’m not going there... I got in Boston College. I changed my mind I want to go in journalism” I want to be a crime reporter... you know crime report and stuff”
“Great Paul ... Congrats and it’s great to follow your heart especially when it comes to professional life ...Doc always says that to me” Kate said. Paul looking at Kate in every two second but Kate sticks her eyes in her plate.
“Wow Kate ... It’s delicious” Paul said as he ate the cake.
“Thanks I like to cook” Kate said
“I was thinking we can go for a movie tomorrow” Paul said
“Yeah we can but not tomorrow ... Jake coming on Friday and I have to decorate his room. We can go on Saturday... If you don’t mind...did Jake tell you about his club?” Kate said to divert the topic.
“No...He’s not talking to me after the exams and I think before them too, any way... Which club?” Paul asked.
“Some basketball club in city ...he joined in April” Kate explained try to hide her expression that Jake is not talking to her either.
“I will call him tonight and ask him ... That would be so cool” Paul said.
Diner is done Kate get nervous as she put the dishes in kitchen, she know Paul is going to kiss her. She takes her hair strand, behind her ear and takes a deep breath.
They were on her door. Paul looks at her as he moves near to her. Before she kisses him she remembers the moment of her and Tyler and move back.
“I’m sorry Paul... I just” Kate said.
“It’s OK Kate ... Take your time... I don’t mind. I’m glad you think about me…I can wait for you” Paul said putting his hand on her shoulder.
“Oh Paul... You are such a nice person” Kate said and kiss on his cheek.
“Thanks... Bye” Paul said he was happy.
As Kate closed the door she said to herself in disappointment “too nice ... For me”

“I’m such an idiot Alice... I ruined last night ... Everything was perfect... Everything then me and my stupid thought” Kate said hitting on her forehead.
They were sitting on a coffee shop. “I told you... You still love Tyler” Alice said.
“Shut up Alice...Why everybody thinks that... I don’t even remember him. I just think Paul is very nice person and I don’t want to hurt him” Kate said looking at her coffee.
“Do you know Tyler get in M.I.T and I heard Paul is going there too maybe you two can see each other” Alice said as she eat her brownie.
“What... him… M.I.T? How do you know” Kate asked
“Well... Tracy told me... She’s in contact with him through Face book” Alice said as she is looking in her coffee trying to hide her expression of lie. Kate stare her then said
“I’m not interested in him anymore and Paul is going to Boston College”
“So nothing happen last night” Alice asked.
“No... I can’t kiss him... I’ve planned but I can’t” Kate said
“Did you tell Jake” Alice asked
“Jake... He’s so busy in his own life... I barely talk to him” Kate said
“What so important in that place anyway?” Alice asked.
“You know boys and basketball plus they get attention of hot and sexy girls... Like Claire... Can you believe in that?” Kate explained.
She notice Alice get worried for Jake too much so she said “Alice I know you like him...But you are so better that you can find someone much better...Maybe better than Jake...OK I have to go city for shopping are sure you don’t want to come?”
“Yeah... I promised Tracy that’s why” Alice said
Tracy enter in shop , Tracy is blue eyes, golden hair tall girl, she and Kate was friend back in 7th grade but when she feel Kate is better than her in studies she get rude to her and ignoring her, she get friends to Alice to jealous Kate . However Kate doesn’t care about her doing anything.
Tracy saw Kate and she get a chance to degrade her
“So you and Paul, well you deserve someone like him... Tyler kind of guys is not your choice” Tracy said,
Alice get up to stop her but Kate hold her hand then said “I know... I kind of like simple and smart guys... Guys who have zero I.Q... Not really my choices”.
Tracy looks at her with hatred and then said “I am waiting for you Alice outside the shop”
Kate smile at her, as Tracy left she look at Alice
“OK... Bye” Kate said and leaves.
As she leave the shop Alice cell phone ring, she pick up the phone and said “yeah... She left”.
“Did she tell anything about him” Tyler said who call her to ask about Kate but want to know about Jake.
“No... Nothing new, he’s busy in his so called club...and she’s still covering her loneliness” Alice said.
“How did he behave with her?” Tyler asked
“Normal... But he’s happy, last time I saw him he was so excited” Alice said
“When he’s coming back” Tyler asked
“Tomorrow” Alice said.
“Are you sure you can find out he’s not with someone” Alice asked with curiosity.
Alice told him about Jake condition and about he’s not giving attention to Kate and Tyler told her that he can find out about Jake if she gives him news about Jake.
“Trust me Alice I will...How’s Kate date go?” Tyler asked.
“Well it was good... She said he’s nice guy” Alice said.
“Did they ... You know?” Tyler asked Alice can feel curiosity in his voice.
“No she did not kiss him, she still remembers you and yeah... Also Paul is not coming to M.I.T” Alice said.
“Good for him... Or I will defiantly kill him” Tyler said.
